Jimmy is recognized around the world as charity’s great 21st Century Champion. LaRose’s work as an entrepreneur, author, fundraiser, speaker and co-founder of NANOE (National Association of Nonprofit Organizations & Executives) has raised hundreds of millions of dollars around the world for people in need. His best-selling book RE-IMAGINING PHILANTHROPY has been named by BookAuthority as one of the 100 Best Philanthropy Books of All Time.
Jimmy LaRose has devoted his thirty-year career to changing the way donors treat the charities in whom they invest. He is the creator of InsideCharity, an online media platform used by philanthropists to build financial-capacity for nonprofits who invoke the same free-market enterprise principles that produced their own personal wealth. Judged by his critics as self-aggrandizing and bombastic, LaRose is known by his peers as loving, self-effacing and humble. “He is part Martin Luther and part Howard Stern and is exactly what nonprofit’s needs to affect 21st Century transformation”, says NANOE President Louis Fawcett. Jimmy is the first to acknowledge that as a “former” industry elite he was ruined by a “Damascus Road Experience…I had this horrifying moment that brought me to my knees. I wrestled for weeks with the unassailable truth that after 100 years of charitable labor we have failed. Nonprofits have not yet begun to address the major social and environmental ills it was designed for and was intended to solve. There is more hunger, homelessness, mental illness, substance abuse, poverty than ever before. Yet the nonprofit establishment is satisfied with mediocrity. We reach only a few instead of building the massive organizations required to solve problems in their entirety. THERE IS NO VISION…THERE IS NO PLAN”
Jimmy has served as a specialist with the U.S. State Department’s Speakers Bureau traveling the world working with embassies, foreign governments, and leaders to promote philanthropy and civil society in developing countries. He is the founding President of the Western Maryland Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP), and is a graduate of AFP’s Faculty Training Academy (FTA). He is a graduate of Indiana University’s Executive Leadership Program, Indianapolis, IN, and the National Planned Giving Institute, Memphis, TN. He received his B.A. from Tennessee Temple University, Chattanooga, TN and Word of Life Bible Institute, Schroon Lake, NY and performed his Master’s Work at Liberty University, Lynchburg, VA. Dr. LaRose received his Doctorate in Philanthropic Studies from Ecumenical University and was ordained as minister of the Gospel by the Ecumenical Church of Christ in further support of his service to the hurting and hopeless around the world.
Jimmy LaRose is the architect of the Major Gifts Ramp-Up™ Donor Cultivation Model & Online Cloud used by charities around the world to meet the needs of their primary customers…the advocates, donors and volunteers who financially underwrite their mission. He’s the founder of National Development Institute™, a 501(c)3 public benefit charity established in 1990 that insures funders, granting organizations and corporations safeguard their mission by building financial capacity. He’s the designer of CNE, CDE & CNC™ Credentialing providing NANOE members the training and certification they require to lead nonprofits to greater success. He’s the inventor of DonorScope™ an online prospect research platform used by charities to identify donors who give big gifts to great dreams that are backed by sound plans. He’s the publisher of InsideCharity™ America’s Trusted Nonprofit News Source an online news magazine that curates news from respected nonprofit media outlets so sector leaders have a one-stop nonprofit news source. He’s the founder of 501c3.Buzz™ an online forum moderated by a nationwide network of academicians, practitioners & consultants that highlights charitable leaders who have dedicated their lives to advance the common good. He has been recently recognized as our Country’s great leader by establishing December as National Giving Month™ inviting the U.S. Government to declare, “December Giving Makes Us Human.” Finally, Jimmy LaRose is the CEO of both Development Systems International™ and PAX Global™ whose teams specialize in implementing the Major Gifts Ramp-Up Model for nonprofits, ministries and churches who raise major gifts.
In closing, when asked about his more radical statements, Jimmy LaRose responds “Hyperbole brings attention to an issue, but our truths are based on field-tested university led research. Nonprofits that flourish are not led by Boards with a vision but rather by strong CEOs backed by Boards who support the CEOs’ vision. I’ve simply had the courage to say what everyone already knows. ‘THE EMPEROR HAS NO CLOTHES.’ It’s time for us to transform ourselves in ways that make all our dreams come true.”
Jimmy and his beautiful wife Kristi are citizens of the Palmetto State where they make their home in Lexington, South Carolina.
